Ceiling Lights
Pendants, chandeliers and flush mounts: everything that hangs from or sits close to the ceiling.
Pendants, chandeliers and flush mounts: everything that hangs from or sits close to the ceiling.
Ceiling lights do the most work in a room, so we choose them for their shape as much as their output. The selection runs from glass pendants by Tala to marble and metal fixtures by Aromas del Campo.
Browse by type: single pendants, linear pendants for long tables, cluster pendants, chandeliers, plug-in pendants for rooms without a ceiling box, and flush and semi-flush lights for lower ceilings.
Hardwired fixtures (most pendants, chandeliers, ceiling and wall lights) connect to a junction box and should be installed by a licensed electrician. Plug-in pendants and lamps only need a standard outlet.
As a starting point, leave 30 to 36 inches between the bottom of the pendant and the tabletop or island, and about 7 feet of clearance where people walk underneath. Each product page lists the cord or rod length.
Most do, and each product page lists the voltage, socket and certification. The Aromas del Campo US line is ETL listed. Some fixtures made for Europe, including many Qeeboo lights, run on 220–240V and need a step-up transformer in the US; the product page says so when that applies.
It depends on the maker. Pieces in US stock usually ship within a few business days, Aromas del Campo ships from Spain in 1–2 weeks, and made-to-order pieces such as Atelier Areti take 4–6 weeks. Each product page shows its lead time.
