Antonio Murado – The Artist Series.
The Apple Box is a familiar sight on film and photography sets, a versatile tool that is pressed into endless service as a seat, step ladder, table, or pedestal. We have elevated it to icon status, like Le Corbusier, rendering it in Baltic birch plywood with rich color on all sides. This simple form evokes the sleek minimalism of Judd and the palette of Barragán.
This edition, however, is even more special — a 1/1 Apple Box featuring a single panel painted by Spanish artist Antonio Murado.
Born in Lugo, Spain, Murado’s paintings often depict abstracted landscapes and flowers, defined by layered, impastoed surfaces and ongoing experimentation with paint and varnish. His work resides in major Spanish museum collections, including the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago.
